According to the EMR Industry, which provides health professionals with great information related to Electronic Medical Records, offers three tips and tricks to promote a healthy body image for yourself and others.
#1: Focus on Strength in Numbers
The main goal here is realizing that you are not alone. Having a great support system of family and friends is huge, but you need to make sure you surround yourself with positive thinkers. EMR offers that if your group is engaging in negative self-try, try steering the conversation away to a positive direction. You want to be able to set a positive standard within your group and for yourself. On top of making sure you are filling yourself with positivity, make sure you check in on your friends who may be experiencing some spouts of anxiety and negativity.
#2: Look Beyond Appearances
You are more than what people see on the outside. Remember the saying: “beautiful on the inside”? Keep that in mind. Show your confidence through your character. Of course, we all love a good compliment on our shoes, our hair, and our general physical appearance but just know you are more than that. Love who you are inside so you can have a great self-body image which will reflect positively onto other aspects of your life. EMR also shares that “choosing your compliment wisely” is helpful in situations where you are complimenting others because some may not like to be complimented on their physical appearance.
#3: Know When and How to Offer Advice
Sometimes you need to be very observant in situations where someone is expressing negative self-talk and know when to step in and offer advice. Offering advice is challenging because you may never know how your advice will come off and if it will be helpful or even accepted by the other party. It is important to note that not everything will work for everyone. These tips provided by EMR go a long way in helping promote a healthy and positive body image.
