Sometimes, one’s lack of confidence or feeling of self-worth comes from putting it in the hands of others who may judge based only on external traits like hair, clothes, make-up, height, or skin tone.  But our real value is internal, in who we are, and what we stand for.The biggest mistake we can make is putting our worth in tangible things. Young women need to recognize that their value lies in things that they cannot see and not in external traits.

As a young girl, it’s normal to have insecurities about oneself whether it’s about your height, weight, face, or acne. Everyone has insecurities, even the “prettiest” girls. Don’t think that if you were someone else, you wouldn’t have any insecurities. Start practicing self-love and stop worrying about what others may say. When one fills their head with negativity by constantly judging their physical looks or characteristics, they will solely be focused on the negative things that people say about themselves. Instead, try words of affirmation, like “She is valued,” or “She is beautiful.”

It is important to make a gratitude list of:
What are you grateful for?
What do you feel confident about in yourself?

We spend so much time focusing on what we do not love that we miss things we do love about ourselves. One cannot control the actions of others, nor do the actions of others reflect one and how much they’re valued.

Confidence comes in many different forms. Young girls can be confident about a skill or talent that others may find strange; however, don’t feel discouraged. It’s a new year and now is the time to do things out of one’s comfort zone. By focusing on the negative things people say, one is ultimately lowering their self-worth.

Recognizing your true value not only makes young girls feel amazing, but it will also make them successful. Self-worth takes young women far because once they think positively about themselves nothing and no one can stop them.
