Move #1: The CitiRokk

Let’s start with the CitiRokk to verse one. This fun and energetic move will surely encourage you to stop “Wasting time on [your] phone” and get the party going. Fusing hip-hop, breaking and house styles, the super trending TikTok move performed by celebrities like Chance the Rapper, Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba is relatively simple.

Let’s break it down: First, rock your torso forward while your waist is moving back. Second, rock to the right side and cross your arms in front of your chest. Next, bring the upper body back to the center. Now try going in the opposite direction: bring your torso to the front, left, and then center. Let’s go dancing: forward, to the right, cross, center. Forward, to the left, cross, center. When you feel comfortable with the base, try adding the legs. While crossing your arm and leaning to the left, bring your opposite leg and knee up at the same time. If you are leaning to the right, pop the left leg up. Finally, practice the move starting to the back instead of the front. Let’s go: back, to the right, cross, center. Back, to the left, cross, center.

Move #2: the Pouncing Cat

In just a few years, the underground South African genre called Amapiano (a combination of soulful and deep house, jazz, hip-hop and African melodies) has transcended borders and become an international trend. As many of the easy-to-do moves went viral, you can learn a new one every day and incorporate them into your routine when dancing to “Let’s Go Dancing”.

One of the trending Amapiano moves, the Pouncing Cat, is perfect to hit the chorus of “Let’s Go Dancing.”

Let’s break it down: With your knees slightly bent, step one heel out and then bring it back up to your toe. Do the same with the other. Stretch your hands while doing the first step on your right heel and repeat on your left. Continue by adding the groove to your steps. Try combining legs, arms and the groove by increasing the speed.

Move #3: The Smeeze

When you hear “Come on now / Dance it out,” from ‘Let’s Go Dancing”, try a super hype move that entered the dance scene in 2009, when it was mainly used in battles. In 2018, the Smeeze’s creator, Chonkie, popularised the move worldwide via TikTok. #SMEEZEEVERYWHERE

Let’s break it down: There are two key ingredients to the Smeeze: the bounce and the top body. To bounce you stomp on one foot and then hop with the other while moving side to side. The second part, the top body, offers variations: you can drum with your hands, rotate the arms in opposing circles, swing the arms or just get loose!

Move #4: The V-Step

A swaggy and really satisfying to watch, the V-Step, will elevate your freestyle of “Let’s Go Dancing” to the next level! And there’s no better move to complement the line of the second verse “Let’s go get on our dancing shoes”! Keep in mind that V-Step is better done in stiff-soled, flat shoes like Converse, Air Forces, or Adidas Gazelle. If you are in your room, dancing in socks will work just fine!

Let’s break it down: (Grab a chair for your first practice.) Bring your feet into a v-position with your toes facing out, then swivel in your left toe while you swivel out your left heel. Return to your first position in the same way you came in. Now, swivel out the left heel while the right toe swivels in. Remember that the weight change is the key to the V-Step. When you bring your weight to the toe, bring the weight of the other foot to the heel. To make the move look more dynamic, add a generous bend to your knees when both toes face each other. Try moving your arms in a way that feels good to add some sauce.

Move #5: The Stiff Hip

Stiff Hip will feel incredibly enjoyable to close “Let’s Go Dancing”, and it will create a charming lasting impression! One of the most popular TikTok dance moves, Stiff Hip, can be learned in just a minute. Check it out: How to Stiff Hip Dance Tutorial | Tiktok Trending Dance Move | Easy Tutorial

Step your right leg slightly forward and your left leg slightly back and it into your starting position a little bit. Next, push the right hip up and down. To make it look saucy, add in your arms. You can try smoothly brushing your arms around your chest and waist, just like in the video above.

Now, that you have these cool moves in your arsenal, practice until you feel comfortable with each of them and put them all together into a little combo to “Let’s Go Dancing”. Keep in mind though that getting the best of your dancing is not always about overexerting yourself. Very often, simple movement, the right intention and facial expressions make the most difference.
